Short Term Anxiety Insomnia
60Anxiety Insomnia and Depression
Anxiety insomnia is one of the most common types of insomnia. Stress is a part of life. Regardless of wealth, strength of family ties, level of social activity…no person is void of stress. Some individuals are better able to manage stress than others. Because of this, it is impossible to get any kind of measure for how much turmoil it takes for a person to begin experiencing sleep anxiety.
When stress starts to interfere with normal rest habits it does not take long for the body to begin to break down. Sleep is of the upmost importance in the maintenance of quality cognitive function and is a necessity to a healthy immune system.
In many cases, depression is accompanied by anxiety. Depressed individuals often are unable to relax and calm their minds. Instead, they are constantly worrying about how they handled situations in the past or how they are going to confront future situations. However, another symptom of depression is sleeping too much. Some sufferers either have difficulty getting out of bed or simply choose to stay in bed rather than face the alternative.
Anxiety Insomnia Causes
Anxiousness surrounding life changes such as a move, a divorce or separation or a change in jobs can lead to trouble falling asleep at night. When these changes occur, maintaining a strict bedtime routine can help. Get in bed at the same time, even if you don’t feel sleepy.
Other routine-changing events that can produce restlessness are jet lag (a condition resulting from traveling from one time zone to another) and changing shifts at work. Stimulants such as caffeine, tobacco and certain drugs can also interfere with sleep.
Whether the inability to fall asleep stems from anxiety insomnia or is brought on by other factors, burning off excess energy with vigorous exercise could be beneficial. Rest usually comes easier when the body is tired.
