Signs and Symptoms of Vertigo

Do you think you are experiencing vertigo symptoms? Read this article to find out more information. The key of vertigo symptoms is a sensation that either you (subjective) or your environment (objective) is moving.

It is not a faint or lightheaded feeling, but more along the lines of feeling disoriented or like you are spinning. Some other symptoms of this condition are a feeling of nausea or vomiting, as if suffering from motion sickness. Others may sweat or experience abnormal eye movements.

Causes of Vertigo Symptoms

Patients experiencing the symptoms may have a loss in hearing or have a ringing sound in their ears. They may have difficulty speaking or walking, feel weak, or have a decrease level of consciousness.

Vertigo symptoms can be constant or come in episodic waves and can last from minutes to hours.

It can be caused by simply getting out bed, a quick change in position, or by taking a new medication. Other causes include whiplash, an inner ear disturbance, Ménière disease and vestibular neuritis.

Prevention and Treatments of Vertigo

If you are experiencing these symptoms, you should consider an evaluation by a doctor. This can help ensure that there are not any serious causes and that the symptoms are primarily harmless.

If you are experiencing serious vertigo signs such as double vision, difficulty controlling your arms or legs, or acting abnormally you should immediately visit your doctor or an urgent care facility.

You should avoid trying to use home remedies to treat this condition, unless you have consulted a doctor. Medical treatment will vary depending on the cause of the symptoms.
